Debian is being stupid

Oh dear. Read this and this. I think the Debian developers should:

  • grow up
  • realise that they are the only people in the whole world to care about the Debian Social Contract

I'll certainly not be installing their brand of madness again. These days, Ubuntu is sufficiently mature.

And while I'm venting my spleen (what on earth is a spleen, how do they vent, and do they taste nice?) Debian should sodding well fix their stupid release names. What the fuck is 'sid' or 'buttplug' or whatever they call it? What's wrong with a nice simple '5.7'?

Neither Debian or Mozilla got in a fuss, it has been a perfectly amicable arrangment, and the only fuss has been in the "/." media.

Ubuntu will also be using IceWeasel and have already started working on the new logos.

Debian system have always been codenamed, and as every user knows they are caracters from the Toy Story film. Each realeased version has a boring version number too, Sarge is 3.1 and Etch will be 4.0.

If you want stupid names then try Ubuntu. Their versions numbers are even stranger.

Actually, the Ubuntu version numbers are based on year/month of their release. So 6.06 was released in June 2006, etc.

That's just ridiculous to state that ubuntu is sufficiently mature in comparison to Debian. Only a total knobhead would claim such foolishness. Face facts, if you can't RTFM, then ubuntu IS for you...No need to be a hater just because you're too fscking lame to RTFM...

Man, I hate fucking NoObish statements like that...On a side note,,, maybe you should ask Debian for a refund..OH, that's right..

;-)

Thankyou for that well-reasoned and thoughtful exposition of the facts, Skynet. Your contribution is, as ever, greatly appreciated.
