Christmas decorations

[Originally posted on 25 Oct 2007]

I see that some shops are beginning to sprout Christmas decorations. The following businesses are therefore on my shit list for crimes against the calendar:

  • Next
  • Debenhams
  • Fortnum and Mason (added 7 Nov)
  • Oxford Street (added 12 Nov)
  • Japan Centre (added 14 Nov)
  • Hatchards (added 14 Nov)
  • Jermyn Street (added 14 Nov)

Though to be honest, I never had you down as a Debenhams customer anyway ...

you are never happy are you? :-)

when should the christmas decorations come out of storage? Early December possibly?

I wasn't allowed to put the 'Holiday Season' decorations up until we broke up from school, so now I cry when it's the 1st of November and the TV ads are everywhere.

As an atheist I find the high jacking of the midwinter festival first by the religious mob and now marting droids most annoying...
It's not a special midwinter festival if it starts in late August and runs well into January...!
Decorations should only come out in December anything earlier is just hateful silliness!

is that really all you've seen so far? I haven't checked myself, but I would imagine that it's a much higher proportion. And why stop at physical shops, Amazon is looking a bit christmassy too.

I think, they just confused Halloween with Christmas. After all, OCT 31 = DEC 25
