New Labour fuckwittery
Apparently our glorious government are to force private clubs to admit women. This is a good thing. Male-only institutions are a ridiculous anachronism which should have died years ago, and the government is quite right to put an end to them. However, there is apparently to be a let-out clause for some sexist institutions but not others. Gentlemens' Clubs will be forced to change, presumably because they represent ideas that New PuritanLabour doesn't like. But women-only gyms will be permitted to continue, for no good reason at all. Can someone enlighten me as to precisely what the difference is between a men-only drinking den and a women-only gym which necessitates enforcing egalitarianism on one but not the other?
